Features:

  • New outline window. Allows you to create event and write in a familiar easy to use Word Processing/Outliner interface.

  • Duration auto text for titles. Display the duration of the event in the event's title. Allows you to see the duration of the event while in the Outline Window.
  • Optional fixed outline text column width. Gives a more WYSIWYG look when writing Screenplays or other documents that use special formatting.

Timeline Window:

  • Timeline view of story(patent pending). View your story across a timeline. You can easily zoom out to see the Entire Story then zoom out in the most minute detail.
  • Write in script format. Write your script in StoryView and then export it to Movie Magic Screenwriter in script format.
  • Track important concepts. Allows you to track where any idea, character, plot point, etc, occurs in your story.
  • Track words/concepts automatically. Automatically recognizes words/concepts and tracks them.
  • Create multiple hierarchies. Allows you to create multiple hierarchies of concepts or ideas.
  • Limitless writing space. Unlike index cards you can write an unlimited amount for each topic or scene.
  • Applying fonts, styles & attributes to multiple events. That means you can select multiple events and set their font or style.
  • Create event hierarchy command. Easily create hierarchy and event type on the fly.
  • New scale tool. Lets you quickly scale the Timeline.
  • Estimate duration. Sets the duration of events based on the length of your text.
  • Time constraints. Helps to keep events where you place them. Prevents unwanted gaps from occurring in the timeline.
  • Autoconnect tracks by word, not partial word. Looks at the EXACT word you type, rather than partial words.
  • Set the starting number for events. Makes it easier to create a calendar based timeline, e.g. a year event could start at 2001 instead of 1.
  • Track connections can be cleared using the edit menu. Makes clearing connections a lot easier.
  • Improved timeline tool selection. Easier to choose a tool for single operations or to be persistent for multiple operations.
  • Set ruler to desired unit. Keeps the ruler from changing units when you scale the timeline.
  • Adjust hierarchy positions. You can now rearrange hierarchies after they have been created.
  • Better control of vertical titles. Allows you to specify whether titles are Always, Never or Automatically.
  • Double-clicking event now performs the "center and edit" function. Quickly expands an event for easy editing.
  • Duration can now be in minutes:seconds notation. You can now type it 3:30 for three and a half minutes (instead of 3.5)

PRINTING:

  • Print timeline of whole story. Print the timeline on a single page, multiple tiled pages, or on a large format printer to create a mural sized poster of your story.
  • Print an outline report. Print your timeline in a traditional outline format.
  • Printed reports in high resolution. Takes advantage of higher resolutions to print crisper and cleaner timeline reports.
  • Headers and footers. You can have header and footers for both the timeline and outline reports.
  • Improved outline reports. Outline Reports now match the capabilities of the new Outline Window.
  • "Print events as seen in outline window" Print Reports that match your onscreen combinations of the various outline features.
  • Interactive scaling of printed timeline in the print preview window. Allows you to adjust the font size and event height to optimize the look of your timeline report without leaving the print preview window.
  • Switch to report options from print preview and vice-versa. Allows you to quickly preview and make changes to how the report prints.
  • Events range report options now use level selector. Easily select what event hierarchies, levels or types you want in your printed report.
  • Print a single event per page. This allows you to print stacks of index cards of any size, placing a single event per page (card)

IMPORT FROM:

  • Dramatica. Automatically imports Scene information and create tracks.
  • Movie Magic Screenwriter and Hollywood Screenwriter. Imports your script into StoryView in script format.
  • Imports Outlines created in Word. (saved as Rtf) Take any previous outline you created and import into StoryView.
  • Microsoft Word, Final Draft or other program saved as an RTF (Rich Text Format) file. Allows you to import any document from virtually any program that supports RTF.

EXPORT TO:

  • RTF Format. Allows you to export to virtually any program that supports RTF.
  • Improved RTF export. You can now control if the title, contents or both are exported to RTF.
  • Magic Screenwriter and Hollywood Screenwriter. Exports script preserving the script format. Allows you to switch back and forth between StoryView and your Screenwriter program. When used in conjunction with the import feature.
  • Automatically launch Movie when exporting. Export to Movie Magic Screenwriter with one click of the mouse.

TEXT EDITING:

  • User Defineable Paragraph Styles. Create reusable paragraph styles that include font, font size, text styles, justification and paragraph spacing.
  • Tab Key Cycles Through Paragraph Style List. Quickly change paragraph styles by using the TAB & SHIFT TAB keys to cycle forward and backwards respectively.
  • Define Paragraph List For Event Type. Allows you to choose on an event basis which paragraph styles will be available using the TAB key function.
  • Drag 'N Drop Copy/Paste Text. Quickly move text anywhere within an event.
  • Justify Text. Set your text to left, right, center and justify.
  • Find And Replace. Search and Replace text across the entire document or just in visible or selected events.
  • Improved Find And Replace. Less cluttered, making it easier to use and blocks less of the view behind the dialog.
  • Spell Checker. You can now check spelling from within StoryView.
  • Paragraph Spacing Styles. You can now set the line spacing and the amount of space before or after a paragraph.
  • Hyperlink Style. Converts text to URL to create links to the Web, e-mail and or other files (such as images) in your StoryView document.
  • Highlight Style. Places a yellow background around text you select.
  • Strikethrough Style. Applies the strikethrough attribute to text.

Miscellaneous:

  • View The Outline And Timeline Windows Simultaenously. Ability to use outline window to edit events and the timeline window to manipulate and move events at the sametime.
  • Duplicate Events. Quickly duplicates events with the same title, content and settings.
  • New Event Button. Quickly creates a new event with a single mouse click.
  • Word Count. Quickly get a count of the words, paragraphs and characters in your document, or in a selection of events.
  • Send Mail To Recipient. Single command to quickly e-mail your StoryView file to anyone.
  • Toolbars Remember Their Positions. Allows you to set and keep the interface the way you want it.
